Google Takeout
Google Takeout is a new service from Google allowing you to look at or download a copy of all the information Google has on you. This includes emails, photos, files, contacts, etc. You are able to both create an archive from your google accounts or do a file transfer between google accounts.
Archive

- Sign in with your credentials.
- The first page has a list of all Google services. Choose the services you wish to download.
- Some services have a drop down menu for details and options, (eg. Contacts allows different formats for viewing).
- Click on the "Next step" button at the bottom of the page.
- Select the method for getting your archived information.
- "Send link to Email" - Will send a link to the location of the archive.
- "Add to Drive" - Will add the archive to the Google drive of the logged in email address (the data can be downloaded from here).
- "Add to Dropbox" - Will add the archive to your Dropbox account. You must link your google account and Dropbox account for this to work.
- "Add to Microsoft OneDrive" - Will add the archive to your Microsoft account. You must link the Microsoft account and Google account for this to work.
- "Add to Box" - Will add the archive to your Box account. You must link your google account to your Box account for this to work.Â
- Next, select the frequency
- "Export once" - will only export your data once.
- "Export every 2 months for 1 year" - will make regular exports for your data.
- Next, select the file type you wish to download the information as.
- .zip - The most common compressed file type and can be opened on most computers. If there is any doubt select this option.
- .tgz - Is most like the .zip file. It can, however, keep more information in the file. This may need extra software on the computer to be opened.
- Finally, select a file size
- Can select a maximum size that you want your file to be. If the file exceeds the amount you enter, then it will create multiple files until all of the data is archived.
- Wait. This information takes a while to find and compress. You will receive an email when the setup has been done and your requested information is available.
Transfer
Go to this link https://takeout.google.com/transfer
- Enter the email address of the google account you want to transfer your files to.
- Hit the blue "Send Code" button. This will send an email to the address you listed above with a confirmation code that will need to be entered in the next step.
- Once you have the confirmation code, enter it in google takeout.
- With the code verification complete, select the products that you want to transfer to another account.
- Hit the blue "Start Transfer" button and the transfer process will begin. This transfer may take a while.
