Adding a Printer to a Windows Computer
Staff members of agencies connected to active directory have the ability to add printers to computers that they are logged into.
Before you start:
The printer will only be added to your login on that computer.
Some printers are restricted and may require the Helpdesk to install.
If you cannot find the printer, run into problems, or don’t feel comfortable adding one yourself, please contact the Helpdesk.
Quick Access to Printer Settings (Windows 10/11)
In the Windows search bar (press the Windows key and start typing), type printers & scanners and press Enter.
The Printers & scanners settings window will open directly.
Adding a printer
In the Printers & scanners window, click Add a printer or scanner.
When Windows searches, click The printer that I want isn’t listed.
Select Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature, then click Next.
If you are in a K-12 school district in the REMC1 forest:
Choose your school district from the dropdown.
Then continue to the next step.
If you are not in a K-12 school, skip this step.
Click Find Now.
From the list, double-click the printer you want. Windows will download and install it for you.
